Ecotoxicity test on marine invertebrate of the cnidarian family – Anemonia viridis

Description

An eco-responsible marine ecotoxicity test to assess the impact of cosmetic products and ingredients on the coral reef ecosystem based on an in vitro method using cell cultures of a sea anemone, Anemonia viridis, an invertebrate marine organism related to corals, a recognized indicator of coastal marine ecosystems. This test is used to optimize formulations and develop finished products that are more respectful of the marine environment by reducing or eliminating the use of certain controversial ingredients. It also provides scientific data to justify environmental claims. This in vitro test, rapid and available all year round, corresponds to a new alternative methodological approach to tests on live animals offering better reproducibility and better precision.
