Eco-refills: neither ecological nor economical

Alerted by attentive consumers who had spotted detergents or shower gels sold at a higher price in refill versions all over France, 60 Millions wanted to find out for sure. After investigation, it turns out that in some supermarkets and hypermarkets the discrepancies speak for themselves.
At Auchan Bagnolet in Seine-Saint-Denis, for example, we found Nesquik ‘Réveille le lait’ at €1.60 more per kilo in the refill version than in the tin. The same goes for Sanex's ‘Nourishing’ shower gel, at €1.72 more for the refill. Worse still, we found Le Petit Marseillais shower gel refills systematically more expensive than the bottles in several chains, both in-store and online.
