Biography

Gislene, Agri-Food Engineer and Expert in Sustainable Innovation in Naturalness. With 25 years' experience in the food and nutraceutical industries, Gislene built her career as an R&D and quality manager in an international environment. After 14 years with Danone (in Brazil and France) and in small and medium-sized food and nutraceutical companies, she joined the InnovAlliance cluster, a benchmark for innovation in the Naturalness sector, 6 years ago. At InnovAlliance, Gislene puts her technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the Naturalité markets (agrifood, nutraceuticals, cosmetics and aromatics) to work for the cluster's members, supporting them in innovation projects such as plant extraction and upcycling, and actively supporting companies and research players in collaborative or individual projects. The InnovAlliance cluster, with its 350 members, is positioned as a strategic innovation lever for companies in the sector. Gislene leads the Eco-Efficient Production and Ecodesign axis, which addresses key issues such as environmental performance, eco-processes, decarbonization and ecodesign. One example of his work is the Upcycling project, which aims to valorize co-products from the agricultural, food and aromatic sectors for the creation of cosmetic, aromatic and nutraceutical ingredients. This project has mobilized 15 major players in the sector, building up a vast library of data on co-products and paving the way for the structuring of new value chains. In this round table, we will discuss the barriers and opportunities to upcycling co-products for the manufacture of cosmetic ingredients.
